Gelwicks 26th in 200 Free at Div. III Championships

The College of Wooster's Cameron Gelwicks turned in a 26th-place showing in his signature event, the 200 freestyle, at the NCAA Div. III Championships on Thursday afternoon at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C.

Gelwicks, who finished at 1:41.25, was about three-tenths of a second back of a top-25 placement in the 37-competitor event. Within heat three, Gelwicks touched sixth of eight.

The 200 freestyle proved to be the best event for the senior standout, who currently holds four school records. Gelwicks' school-record time of 1:39.19 as the leadoff leg of Wooster's All-North Coast Athletic Conference 800 freestyle relay at the league championships was the "B" cut that earned the berth to this week's championship meet.

Gelwicks will cap his career with the 100 freestyle on Saturday.
