The Department of Physical Education, Athletics and Recreation encompasses intercollegiate varsity athletics, intramurals, and the College's course offerings in physical education.

Varsity Athletics

Wooster fields 23 varsity teams, known as the Fighting Scots, and competes in NCAA Division III as a charter member of the North Coast Athletic Conference, which includes Denison University, DePauw University, John Carroll University, Kenyon College, Oberlin College, Ohio Wesleyan University, Wabash College, and Wittenberg University.

Intramurals

The intramural program offers a number of popular sports and activities for students, faculty, and staff, including soccer, softball, tennis, flag football, three-on-three basketball, bowling, and dodge ball.

Physical Education Minor & Lifetime Sports/Personal Conditioning Activities

Wooster offers one-quarter credit course in a variety of lifetime sports and personal conditioning activities, from golf and tennis, to archery, karate, scuba, and personal conditioning. The department also offers a number of one-credit courses that can be taken as electives and may be counted toward a minor in Physical Education.
