Recruiting Process - Transfer Students

COLLEGE OF WOOSTER COLLEGE TRANSFER RECRUITS INFORMATION

Thank you for your interest in The College of Wooster and in our NCAA Div. III athletic programs. The information below provides an overview of some of the key steps as a college transfer considering Wooster. Coaches may provide additional information pertaining to their specific recruiting process. Please stay in regular contact with the coach of your sport and admissions counselor throughout the recruiting process.
 

BECOME ELIGIBLE FOR WOOSTER’S COACHES TO CONTACT YOU

I am transferring from another NCAA Div. III institution:
You need to do one of the following:
-Option 1: Complete the NCAA Div. III Self-Release Form and send to Wooster’s Director of Athletics and Physical Education Lynn Holleran (lholleran@wooster.edu) and Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance Dennis Rice (drice@wooster.edu).
            -Click or tap here for self-release form
-Option 2: Complete the Notification of Transfer process with your current institution’s compliance officer and have your name added to the NCAA Transfer Portal by your current institution’s compliance officer.

I am transferring from a NCAA Div. I or NCAA Div. II institution:
-Complete the Notification of Transfer process with your current institution’s compliance officer and have your name added to the NCAA Transfer Portal by your current institution’s compliance officer.

I am transferring from a NAIA institution:
-Request a permission-to-contact letter from your athletic department or compliance officer and send the letter to Wooster’s Director of Athletics and Physical Education Lynn Holleran (lholleran@wooster.edu) and Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance Dennis Rice (drice@wooster.edu).

I am transferring from a Junior College:
-Reach out directly to the head coach of your sport. You do not need to supply any formal documentation before a coach can be in contact with you. Wooster does not require you to already have your associate’s degree to transfer here from a junior college.


CONTACT THE COACHES

The prospective Fighting Scot should email the head coach AND any assistant coaches with emails listed on the staff directory expressing interest in transferring to program and letting the coaching staff know about yourself. If you are transferring from a NCAA or NAIA institution you should indicate that you are either A. in the NCAA Transfer Portal or B. what day you sent over your self-release or permission-to-contact letter to AD Holleran and Asst. AD Rice.

VISIT CAMPUS

Prospective Fighting Scots should connect with the coaching staff of your sport to find a good date to visit campus before booking any campus visits or visit programs with Admissions.  

Wooster offers a variety of in-person and virtual visit options. Admissions and Athletics work together on many visit programs to cater to prospective Fighting Scots. Learn more about visit options and register for your visit on the Admissions website. 
 

APPLY

Students interested in transferring to Wooster are able to have an unofficial evaluation of credits before applying. Request an official transcript from your current institution’s registrar and fill out the transfer credit evaluation form.

Submit your Common App for transfer to receive a minimum scholarship of $35,000 annually. As part of the application, you will need your high school transcript.

All families are encouraged to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible when it becomes available to fill out. Wooster’s federal school code is 003037. 

Complete the College Report with your current institution and have them send to admissions@wooster.edu.

Submit any supporting transfer application documents to admissions@wooster.edu.

Please contact admissions@wooster.edu with any additional questions on the transfer process. Our Admissions’ transfer coordinator will be in touch with you to guide you through the process.

The minimum scholarship is guaranteed for U.S. transfer applicants. Wooster welcomes international transfer applications and will provide both merit- and need-based financial assistance to support enrollment.
