Women’s Tennis Hosts Invitational

Scots welcome three teams over the weekend

The College of Wooster women's tennis team hosted Otterbein University, Allegheny College and Oberlin College for the Wooster Invitational this past weekend.
 
Highlights for Wooster included a singles and doubles win on Saturday. First-year Elizabeth Meiners captured her first win decisively, an 8-0 win over Otterbein's Daniela Demata.
 
For the doubles match, Lauren Richmond and Jade Adkins defeated Oberlin's Gabby Kirsch and Hannah Soong 6-2.
 
On Sunday, Wooster captured another doubles win after Meiners and Sasha Riley won 6-1 over Allegheny's Giada Palmieri and Rei Etsumi.
 
In singles, Wooster took a couple more wins. Meiners took another sweep, winning 6-0, 6-0 over Oberlin's Scarlett Kingston. Elsewhere, Elyse Errington captured a win over Soong 7-6 (1), 6-4.
 
Also on Sunday, Wooster took a number of close losses. Riley fell after a tough first set, 7-6 (3), 6-3. Kamila Kadirova suffered a 7-6 (6), 6-4 loss, and Richmond fell just short in a 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10) result.
 
Next, the Scots will travel to WashU to compete in the ITA Regional Tournament from Sept. 19-21.
