The College of Wooster women's tennis team hosted Otterbein University, Allegheny College and Oberlin College for the Wooster Invitational this past weekend.
Highlights for Wooster included a singles and doubles win on Saturday. First-year
Elizabeth Meiners captured her first win decisively, an 8-0 win over Otterbein's
Daniela Demata.
For the doubles match,
Lauren Richmond and
Jade Adkins defeated Oberlin's
Gabby Kirsch and
Hannah Soong 6-2.
On Sunday, Wooster captured another doubles win after Meiners and
Sasha Riley won 6-1 over Allegheny's
Giada Palmieri and
Rei Etsumi.
In singles, Wooster took a couple more wins. Meiners took another sweep, winning 6-0, 6-0 over Oberlin's
Scarlett Kingston. Elsewhere,
Elyse Errington captured a win over Soong 7-6 (1), 6-4.
Also on Sunday, Wooster took a number of close losses. Riley fell after a tough first set, 7-6 (3), 6-3.
Kamila Kadirova suffered a 7-6 (6), 6-4 loss, and Richmond fell just short in a 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10) result.
Next, the Scots will travel to WashU to compete in the ITA Regional Tournament from Sept. 19-21.
