Brent Riehl, a holder of six Alma College school records, is The College of Wooster swimming and diving team's new full-time assistant coach and pool manager. Riehl is set to arrive in Wooster this summer upon completion of his undergraduate studies.
Riehl spent two summers overseeing all swim lesson programming and summer swim team operations for Dearborn, Michigan, coordinating instruction across multiple skill levels and age groups. Riehl led safety operations for a 1,000-capacity public aquatic facility serving a diverse, bilingual community. Prior to his promotion to head guard, Riehl spent four years as a lifeguard and maintenance worker for Dearborn.
At Alma, Riehl specialized in sprint events and qualified for nine individual championship finals at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championships. As a two-year captain, Riehl was part of programs that regularly earned College Swimming Coaches Association of America Scholar All-America honors. Prior to Alma, Riehl was a state qualifier in high school.
Riehl is set to graduate from Alma with a degree in psychology in the coming weeks.
