The College of Wooster cross country teams kicked off its season on Tuesday by hosting the Wooster Invitational, running at L.C. Boles Memorial Golf Course.
 
The Scots avoided the rain for the most part as a slight delay pushed the start.
 
Nevertheless, first-year Stella Anderson had a great debut for the women, finishing as Wooster's top runner in fourth and a time of 17:02.2.
 
Baldwin Wallace University claimed six of the other top seven spots with first-year Katherine Kaster running a top time of 16:24.1.
 
Wooster then claimed the last three spots in the top 10. Two additional first-years put up times there.
 
Sophia Krummick came in eighth running a time of 18:23.9, finishing just ahead of senior Reeve Helvoigt's time of 18:24.9. First-year Eloise Gravel crossed at 18:27.9 for 10th.
 
Wooster also lined 11-14th behind runners Eilidh Horn (18:33), Cheyenne Wentz (18:39.3), Molly Noesen-Bosscher (18:41.4) and Elise Wheeler (18:52.2).
 
For the men, junior Basil Keck led the Scots in seventh with a time of 21:52.1. Classmate Grant Mentzer was Wooster's next best finisher at 11th at 21:58.9.
 
Sophomore Max Kollhoff ran a 22:31.9 for 17th while first-year Owen Neville (23:59.4) and junior Andrew Rombach (23:01.3) rounded out the top 20.
 
Baldwin Wallace's Michael Dorris completed the course the fastest with a time of 21:12.4.
 
The Scots will be back in action on Sept. 11 to take part in the Tiffin University Cross Country Open.
