The College of Wooster cross country teams took on the state's best during the annual All-Ohio Intercollegiate Challenge, hosted by Cedarville University at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course.
 
Teams from across all three NCAA divisions plus NAIA and club teams compete in the event with scores broken out across divisions. Both the Fighting Scot men and women placed 10th of 13 teams. Case Western Reserve University captured both Div. III team titles with 39 points on the men's side and 54 points on the women's side.
 
The Scots' top harriers turned heads in their own respective ways. First-year Stella Anderson lined up for her first collegiate 6k event and led the way with a time of 25:12.6 for 60th place, marking the Scots' top finish on either team. Meanwhile, junior Basil Keck led the men's team with a career-best 8k time of 27:42.5 for 65th place.
 
Four other Scots finished in the top-100 including first-year Eloise Gravel, junior Eilidh Horn, senior Elise Wheeler, and junior Grant Mentzer. Gravel, Horn, and Wheeler stuck together and crossed the line in rapid succession with Gravel in 88th place in 26:18.1, Horn in 92nd in 26:27.6, and Wheeler in 94th in 26:33.1. Mentzer snuck into the top-100 in 99th place in 28.21.6.
 
Senior Cheyenne Wentz had the race of her life with a big 6k personal record of 26:51.0, improving on her time by over five minutes to cap off the scoring contingent for the women. Rounding out the scorers for the men were junior Andrew Rombach (123rd place in 28:56.7), first-year Owen Neville in his first collegiate 8k event (132nd place in 29:20.8), and senior Nick Schade (148th place in 29:51.2).
 
A pair of first-years in Molly Noesen-Bosscher and Sophie Krummick cracked the top-seven with efforts of 26:51.6 and 27:21.3, respectively, for 102nd place and 111th place. Fellow first-year Gabe Coble was the men's sixth harrier in 30:20.6 and senior Yann Kariningufu posted a career-best 30:49.3 for 170th place.
 
Wooster's next meet takes place on Friday, October 2, at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational at Liberty Park in Delaware at 6 p.m.
