The College of Wooster had an opportunity to pull within 2-1 late in the opening half, but No. 6 ranked Ohio Wesleyan University saved a penalty kick and then used that momentum for a four-goal second half as the Battling Bishops prevailed 6-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference contest played at Delaware, Ohio, Thursday afternoon.
The game had been originally scheduled Wednesday night, but due to heavy rain it was postponed and also moved from Ohio Wesleyan's usual Roy Rike Field, which was unplayable, to its former home facility, South Field.
Shortly after, Ohio Wesleyan (14-1, 6-0 NCAC) made it 2-0, Wooster (4-8-1, 0-6-0 NCAC) earned a golden scoring chance via a penalty kick. The Battling Bishops' Paul Hendricks guessed right, though, and saved Jonathon Fox's attempt. The Fighting Scots added two more shots to no avail in the closing minutes of the first half.
It was all Battling Bishops during the second, as they broke the game open with goals in the 52nd and 63rd minutes, and then tacked on two more late.
Taylor Takacs was credited with seven saves during the setback.
Wooster will play its 2011 home finale on Saturday against Oberlin College (5-10, 2-4 NCAC) at 3 p.m.
