COLUMBUS, Ohio – Seven members of The College of Wooster's men's basketball program attended a reception Tuesday at Governor John Kasich's residence, where the Fighting Scots and six other Ohio collegiate basketball teams were honored for having successful runs in their respective NCAA tournaments.

Teams that were recognized included Div. I men's programs University of Cincinnati, Ohio University, Ohio State University, and Xavier University, Div. III men's programs Wittenberg University and Wooster, and on the women's side, Div. II Ashland University and Div. III's University of Mount Union.

"I want you all to know how special it is to accomplish what you have," Kasich told the group. "We have some schools in this state that have a history of going a long way in the tournament. And the success of the smaller division schools was special as well. You helped spark the state and 11 million Ohioans are proud of you."

Representing Wooster were senior captains Matt Fegan, Justin Hallowell, and Justin Warnes, as well as teammates Kendal Sherrod and Doug Thorpe, associate head coach Doug Cline, and assistant coach Bryan Wickliffe. Since classes are over at Wooster, several members of the team had returned to their hometowns and were unable to attend.

"It is really cool to be representing Wooster and the state of Ohio like this," said Fegan, who was recently recruited by Teach For America to teach at a school in Tulsa, Oklahoma. "There are so many great teams here, and to be sharing this notoriety with them, and to get a chance to meet the Governor, it's been a special day."

Along with meeting Kasich, the Scots got the chance to speak with former Ohio State and NBA player, Clark Kellogg, who currently works as an analyst for CBS Sports.
