WOOSTER, Ohio – Seniors Kasey Fiedler and Marissa Gorvet jump-started The College of Wooster softball team with back-to-back RBI hits in game one as the Fighting Scots capped their season with a 9-4, 8-6 sweep over Oberlin College on Saturday at Galpin Park.

In the second inning, Fiedler roped a two-out double down the left-field line to plate pinch-runner Rylee Bouillion. Then, Gorvet came through with a single to center, bringing in Fielder and putting Wooster (17-21, 8-8 North Coast Athletic Conference) up 2-1 in the process. Gorvet then moved into scoring position on a stolen base, and later scored on a Maddy Chase single.

Wooster extended its lead to 9-1 in the fourth inning, with the Scots scoring all six runs after an Oberlin (2-35, 1-14 NCAC) error with two outs in the frame. Taylor Raybuck scored the first run of the stanza, coming in to score on the Yeowomen's error.

Next, Jenna Kendall followed with a two-run single that was quickly backed up by a Stephenie Little double into the right-center gap. Then, Chelsea Copley singled to center, and stole second with Little coming in to score on the delayed double-steal attempt. Linea Brouse knocked in the final run of the frame with a single to center.

Oberlin scored one run in the first, fifth, sixth, and seventh innings.

Chase picked up the win in the circle moving to 12-9 on the year. The sophomore struck out six on the day. Notable, the 12 wins are tied for the fourth-most in program history, and the best output since Jenn Horton had a 14-win campaign in the 2012 season.

In the second game, Wooster again worked its way back from an early deficit.

Copley delivered the big knock as part of a four-run third inning. The freshman designated player hammered a 1-2 pitch for a two-run homer to left field, which at the time put Wooster ahead 4-2.

Chase started the rally earlier in the inning with a one-out opposite-field double, came in to score on a fielder's choice. Little then continued her big day with an RBI double that plated Kendall, who reached via a walk.

Two innings later, the Scots extended the lead to 8-2. Little plated the first run of the frame with her second double of the contest, and then came in to score as part of a two-run base knock off the bat of Copley. Fielder chipped in with a two-out RBI single to bring in the fourth run of the inning.

Oberlin made things interesting in the seventh inning with a four-run frame to close within two.

Kendall picked up her fifth win of the year in the circle and struck out seven in the complete-game effort.

Copley led the way at the plate with a 4-for-5 afternoon with a home run, four RBIs, and three runs scored. Little also had a big day offensively with three doubles and a trio of RBIs.
