DEFIANCE – The College of Wooster men's soccer team picked up their second win and second shutout on the year in their final game of the Purple and Gold Classic. They defeated host Defiance College 1-0 on Sunday.

The game's only score came in the 15th minute. After a long pass from midfield, senior Max Hill got the ball and made a quick pass to his left to sophomore Kyle Stringer who scored his first collegiate goal.

Hill moved into the team lead in points with the assist after scoring in the team's 3-0 win over Baldwin Wallace University in the season opener.

Senior Hamilton Schattgen received his first start in goal this season and made two saves in the shutout.

Wooster outshot Defiance 13-5 and held the corner kick advantage 9-4. They are now 3-2 all time against Defiance.

Wooster moves to 2-1, while Defiance drops to 0-3. The Scots return to action Thursday with their first home game of the year when they take on Westminster College.
