The College of Wooster volleyball team resumed North Coast Athletic Conference play on Tuesday at Ohio Wesleyan University, where the Fighting Scots dropped a 25-16, 25-12, 25-14 match to the Battling Bishops at Branch Rickey Arena.
Wooster's middles were the Fighting Scots' bright spot, as first-year
Tamarra Talbert and junior
Kora Burill combined for 11 of the team's 22 kills. The duo hit .450 on the night with just two errors on a combined 20 swings.
Senior
Izzy Cozzie paced Wooster with nine digs, but Ohio Wesleyan's attack clicked all night, with the Battling Bishops hitting .425 as a team.
Other highlights for Wooster included three aces from junior
Jordan Laraway and 12 assists by first-year
Kennedy Muhlenkamp in Wooster's six-two system.
Laraway and Talbert had three kills each for Wooster in set one. The Scots were within seven as late as 20-13 when
Natalie Dieball could not convert on the attack for Ohio Wesleyan.
Ohio Wesleyan's Dieball,
Mason Campbell, and
Jordanne Shannon all had nine kills to lead the way on the night.
Lily Bechina served up four aces for the Battling Bishops.
Bella Buzzetta tied Cozzie for the match-high in digs at nine.
Ohio Wesleyan improved to 10-12, 3-1 NCAC. Wooster dropped to 5-16, 1-3 NCAC.
Next, Wooster is at Denison University (8-13, 0-3 NCAC) for a 1 p.m. match on Saturday, Oct. 25.
