GRANVILLE – The battle of unbeatens stayed unbeaten as The College of Wooster men's soccer team played toe-to-toe with third-ranked Denison University on Wednesday, playing to a 1-1 draw in North Coast Athletic Conference play.
Senior
Elliot Miller gave Wooster the lead in the 27th minute, his sixth on the season, against a team that had only given up four goals on the year. It also denied Denison (9-0-2, 1-0-1 NCAC) a shutout, something they have accomplished eight times this season.
Wooster (8-0-4, 0-0-2 NCAC) took the 1-0 lead into halftime and held onto it until Denison tied the game in the 63rd minute.
Kaden Kist intercepted a Wooster clear and fed
Julian Bozzolo who was perched right in front of the net.
Yet, the Wooster line immediately raised their hands looking for the offside, but after review the play stood.
The Wooster defense stayed true to hold onto the tie. Denison had one final chance in the final minute with a long throw-in but the shot that came after missed wide left.
The Big Red outshot Wooster 19-5 and took five corners to Wooster's one. Sophomore keeper
Eddie Glucksman made four saves.
Another tie gives the Scots another point in the NCAC standings. Denison is atop the standings at four points, tied with DePauw University.
Wooster returns home Saturday for another North Coast Athletic Conference matchup, hosting Wabash College at 1 p.m.
