Men’s Soccer Playoff Bound

Scots draw with Wittenberg, 0-0

SPRINGFIELD - The College of Wooster men's soccer team is set for the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament after a scoreless tie in the regular season finale against Wittenberg University on Saturday.

Wooster's playoff fate was sealed before this afternoon's final whistle thanks to some help from a few other NCAC contests. Denison University beat John Carroll University 3-0 while Kenyon College won 4-0 over Ohio Wesleyan University to propel the Scots (11-1-6, 3-1-4 NCAC) into the tournament. The 2025 regular season also marks Wooster's first top-four conference finish since 2004.

Opportunities were few and far between, yet Wittenberg (7-4-7, 0-4-4 NCAC) and senior Christopher Meyer managed the first shot on goal in the 6th minute. Sophomore Eddie Glucksman made the save and was not challenged again as he did not face another shot on goal the rest of the afternoon.

Junior Ioannis Aristodemou took the Scots' first shot in the 10th minute, sending the ball into the top right corner, but could not get it past the Tiger goalie. Junior Robert Hillhouse, sophomore Connor Shea and sophomore Will Pope each had their own chances in the first half but could not find the back of the net.

The second half had a chippy feel to it with more combined fouls and cards than shots taken. The Tigers' chances came early while Aristodemou and Shea each had a second scoring chance for the Scots, yet failed to convert.. Senior Elliot Miller sprayed the ball left, right and up, all in the final 11 minutes, as the horn sounded on a draw.

Senior Sam Nitzberg saved all six shots he faced to give Wittenberg its only statistical advantage of the game. Shots heavily favored Wooster 12-4 while the Scots also had one more corner kick than the Tigers at a 3-2 mark.

The NCAC Semifinals will be contested on Wednesday, Nov. 5, as Wooster is set to travel to Denison in the #3 vs. #2 matchup at 7:00 p.m. inside Kienzle-Hylbert Stadium. In the regular season, the teams tied 1-1 which was also a road contest for the Scots.
