Women's Basketball Returns to The Court

Scots face Geneva after 10-day break

GENEVA – The College of Wooster women's basketball team competed for the first time in 10 days on Saturday, taking a 93-59 defeat at Geneva College.

The 93 points was a season-high given up by the Scots' defense, in a game that got away from the Scots in the fourth quarter.

Wooster trailed by 20 at halftime but managed to have a strong third quarter. A 7-0 run capped by an Ella Dean 3-pointer cut Geneva's lead to 11 with under two minutes remaining.

Yet, things fell apart from there. Geneva got its lead back up to 20 early in the fourth and answered Wooster's run with a 12-0 push, eventually extending its lead to as high as 34.

Geneva's Emily Garvin led the charge, posting a season-high 26 points and adding 11 rebounds to lead the Golden Tornadoes. She was one of four to reach double figures in scoring.

Sophomore Mackenzie Riccitelli scored 16 points to lead the Scots. Junior Ace Sturdivant followed with 11 points as both Riccitelli and Sturdivant each collected six rebounds.

Sophomore Emily Webb scored seven points off the bench.  First-year Hannah Stroebe grabbed a team-high nine rebounds and added three points.

Senior Ella Biondi scored five points, grabbed eight boards and blocked two shots. Pink Sturdivant and Abby Hengar each scored six points.

Wooster started the game shooting 11 percent in the first quarter but got it up to 27 percent (21-76) for the game. Geneva shot 44 percent (35-80) but made 16 3-pointers to Wooster's five.

Geneva (3-5) won the rebounding battle 55-49 and scored 33 points off 21 Wooster turnovers.

Wooster (4-4) has three more games left in 2025, all on the road and will travel next to Hiram College on Wednesday.
