The College of Wooster men's tennis team opened North Coast Athletic Conference play facing one the conference's best on Sunday, falling to fourth-ranked Denison University, 7-0.
Denison (13-2, 2-0 NCAC) opened by sweeping doubles play, losing just three games in the process.
Wooster's best effort came in the No. 3 flight as Bennett Dickerson and Walker Wood fell 6-2. The No. 2 team of Ian Royse and Max Stratford lost 6-1, while Anthony VanOyen and Arnav Yadav lost 6-0 in the No. 1 flight.
Denison saw continued success against Wooster (6-5, 0-1 NCAC) in singles play.
VanOyen and Royse each lost 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 1 and No. 3 flights, respectively.
Yadav fell 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 2 flight, while Dickerson lost 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 4 flight.
The No. 5 and No. 6 flights also went to straight sets. At No. 5, Wood fell 6-0, 6-1, and at No. 6, Stratford lost 6-1, 6-2.
Next, Wooster will travel to Wittenberg University on Saturday for another NCAC matchup.
