GAMBIER – Kenyon College was the only team able to snap its three-game losing streak Wednesday night, defeating The College of Wooster women's basketball team 72-60 in a North Coast Athletic Conference matchup.
It was Kenyon's first conference win of the season, moving to 6-11 overall and 1-5 in conference play, while Wooster drops to 9-8 and 1-5 in the NCAC.
Junior
Ace Sturdivant was a highlight for the Scots, scoring a season and game-high 22 points 8-of-12 shooting. Sturdivant also pulled down five rebounds.
Sophomore
Mackenzie Riccitelli and first-year
Pink Sturdivant each added 10 points and a pair of assists. Riccitelli's five steals were a game-high.
Senior

Wooster's starters scored all but seven of the team's 60 points as Wooster's bench hit just one field goal in the game and was outscored 20-7. Kenyon had four score in double figures, led by 17 points from
Kiana Mollabashy.
Wooster looked its best at the start, opening with the game's first five points behind a 3-pointer from
Ace Sturdivant and an easy jumper from
Ella Dean. Their five-point lead was their largest of the game, and they would never lead again after their 11-9 advantage well into the first quarter.
Kenyon got increasingly hot as the game went along. The Owls shot 47 percent (28-60) from the floor and 53 percent (10-19) from range. Their percentages went up each quarter, culminating in a fourth where they shot 64 percent (9-14) from the floor and 75 percent (3-4) from deep.
Kenyon led by as many as 16 points and led by 12 to begin the fourth quarter.
Wooster started the fourth in similar fashion to the first, scoring five straight points behind
Pink Sturdivant's second 3-pointer of game and a layup from Riccitelli. Yet, Wooster stalled without a field goal for about four minutes of play and saw Kenyon make an 8-0 run that pushed their lead to 61-46 with 5:18 left to play.
The Scots ended up shooting 40 percent (21-53) from the floor, 32 percent (5-16) from range and just 62 percent (13-21) from the charity stripe. They were outrebounded 38-32.
Wooster stays on the road with a trip to DePauw University (10-7, 3-3 NCAC) on Saturday.
