Denison University continued its recent run of 3-point barrages at Livingston Gymnasium against The College of Wooster men's basketball team, and that resulted in an 80-59 Big Red win on Wednesday evening.
Denison outscored Wooster 45-9 from beyond the arc.
Nick Heath started the game 7-of-9 from deep before cooling off to a 7-of-11 showing. The Big Red's 15 triples marked the third time in the last four games against the Fighting Scots at Livingston Gymnasium where Denison has hit at least 11 3-pointers.
Wooster was able to hold off Denison's triples early, as the Scots were within two at 21-19 and 23-21, thanks to a strong start at the free throw line. Sophomore
Si Kielian hit a pair at the stripe that made it 21-19 and junior
Quincy Jones did likewise to cut Wooster's deficit back to two.
Back-to-back Heath 3-pointers just before the first-half clock reached 6:00 pulled the teams apart. The Big Red guard hit 20 points on the triple with 6:14 to go before halftime, and that upped Denison's lead to 32-21.
Senior
Jaiden Cox-Holloway led the offense early, hitting a step-back 3-pointer before pulling up for a deep two. His pullup had Wooster up 9-8, which marked the Scots' final lead of the night. Defensively, sophomore

Isaac Roeder, and senior
EJ Kapihe all denied Denison at the rim early in the first half, and the Scots finished with five blocked shots on the night.
Oakley led Wooster with 12 points and a tri-team-high five rebounds. He was followed in the scoring column by Kapihe and Roeder, who scored 11 points each. Cox-Holloway and Kapihe tied Oakley for high honors in rebounds at five. Kapihe had two blocked shots and two steals in the conference clash.
Wooster shot 40 percent (20-of-50) for the game and was outrebounded 35-25.
Heath led all players with 23 points. He was 8-of-13 overall from the field.
Ellis Appiah and
Kellen Smith combined for 28 points on 11-of-18 shooting.
Denison shot 50 percent (29-of-58), which included a 15-of-32 (46.9 percent) mark from deep. The Big Red passed out assists on 23 of their 29 field goals.
Denison improved to 11-6 and moved into a tie for first-place within the North Coast Athletic Conference at the midpoint of conference play with a 6-2 league mark. Wooster is now 5-12, 2-6 NCAC.
Wooster's second round of conference play starts with Saturday's 7 p.m. home contest against Oberlin College (9-8, 2-6 NCAC).
