GRANVILLE -- The College of Wooster women's soccer team traveled to Denison University on Saturday and left with a 2-2 draw in North Coast Athletic Conference action.
Wooster jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first half thanks to its defensive awareness and capitalized on a pair of errant plays from Denison's keeper.
The Scots scored within the first three minutes of the match when a failed clear was intercepted byÂ
Julia Struck. Struck then foundÂ
Josie Bencic who foundÂ
Bella Crompton, who scored off her left foot as the ball rolled just inside the right post.
Another mistake from the keeper came in the 11th minute, as they could not wrangle the ball near the top of the penalty box, allowing a challenge from Bencic who then took possession and scored off her left foot into what was an open goal.
It was Bencic's seventh goal of the season, while Crompton pushed her goal total to five.
Before halftime, Denison was able to get one back as a cross got past keeperÂ
Lucy Carlin's attempt to punch it out.Â
Adeline Bohl was near the front of the scoring area to score in the 33rd minute.
Action picked up with under two minutes remaining in the game, Carlin made a huge stop, colliding with a Denison attacker but secured the ball.
Carlin stopped another cross from heading near the scoring area, but Denison's final push with 20 seconds remaining proved successful. The ball got deep into scoring area and after a scrum,Â
Megan Mulvey was able to kick it in to secure the 2-2 tie.
Denison outshot Wooster 21-9 and held the corner kick advantage 7-0.
Carlin made a season-high 12 saves. Her shutout streak ends at five consecutive games.
Wooster moves to 8-3-3 overall and 3-0-1 in the NCAC, while Denison moves to 5-2-5 and 1-0-3 in conference play.  The Scots remain in first place with 10 points, sharing the spot with Kenyon College (7-1-5, 3-0-1 NCAC).
Next, Wooster will travel to Wittenberg University (4-8-1, 1-3 NCAC) for a Tuesday night contest.
