GAMBIER – It was an uphill climb for The College of Wooster men's soccer team to extend its season, but 17th-ranked Kenyon College proved to be too much for the Scots on Saturday, taking a 3-1 win in both teams' regular season finale.
The Owls attacked early and often on Saturday, claiming a 3-0 lead within the first 26 minutes. Three different goal scorers got on the board –
Lucas de Alarcon in the 10th minute,
Andrew Adams in the 19th and
Kevin Farina in the 26th.
To Wooster's credit, Kenyon could not find the back of the net for the final 60 minutes of the game. Wooster got one through of their own in the 79th minute as
Aris Christodoulou scored his sixth of the year thanks to the assist from
Henry Grieshop-Goodwin.
Wooster took just two shots in the game, including its lone score. Kenyon tallied 16 shots and five corner kicks while Wooster keeper
Stefanos Sotiriadis collected three saves.
Kenyon (14-3) secured the North Coast Athletic Conference title after going 7-1 in conference games, while Wooster (8-7-2, 2-4-2 NCAC) sees its season end with eight points in seventh place.
