Wooster Takes Series Finale from Oglethorpe, 9-7

Kramer hits third homer of young season

Senior first baseman Ryan Kramer continued his torrid start to 2026, reaching base safely in all five plate appearances and knocking in four in The College of Wooster baseball team's 9-7 win over Oglethorpe University on Saturday in Atlanta.

Kramer clubbed his third homer of the three-game weekend series in the top of the first inning to give Wooster (2-1) a quick 2-0 lead. Two batters prior, junior third baseman Zack Barienbrock led off the game with an opposite-field single.

The defensive play of senior catcher Colin Leslie quieted the Petrels (1-2) on the bases throughout the series rubber match. Trey Kinnan tested the gold glove-caliber senior in the first inning and was quickly thrown out trying to swipe second base. In the fourth inning, Kinnan was caught again by Leslie, this time getting picked off at first base. Leslie threw out Ethan Snipes at first base to complete the game-ending strikeout and end Oglethorpe's ninth-inning rally.

Wooster reclaimed the lead with a four-run fourth inning. First-year shortstop Noah Lindberg legged out an infield single and scored when sophomore center fielder Aidan Krantz sent a bases-loaded single through the middle of the infield. Barienbrock's sacrifice fly that played junior left fielder Andrew Kerr was the go-ahead RBI. Kramer padded the lead to 6-3 with a two-run single to left.

Wooster's sixth-inning insurance came from the bat of Lindberg. The first-year shortstop placed a two-run single through the left side of the infield. Leading up to the run-scoring hit, Barienbrock led off the inning with a double, advanced to third on Leslie's fly out, then the Scots had a second baserunner, as Kramer was intentionally walked.

Kramer finished 2-for-2 with four RBI, three runs scored, and three walks. Lindberg went 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI, and Barienbrock scored twice during his two-hit afternoon.

First-year Henry Rouch (1-0) took the win with two innings of one-hit scoreless relief in support of senior starter Jack Spring. Sophomore Alex Eusebio was sharp, toeing the rubber for three innings of one-hit, scoreless baseball.

Cade Eidam led Oglethorpe, going 3-for-4 with four RBI. JB Sain (0-1) was the losing pitcher, allowing six runs on five hits in three-plus innings.

Next, Wooster is slated to host State University of New York at Oneonta (0-0) for a three-game series at Art Murray Field. The teams are scheduled to start with a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 28. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
