SPRINGFIELD -- After missing out on the shot put title by just .25 inches last year, Sanford made sure on Saturday, becoming a three-time champion in the event at the North Coast Athletic Conference Indoor Championships held at Wittenberg University.
Â
Not only did the senior top the field, her throw of 43 feet, 5 inches beat her previously held school record at 42 feet, 11.75 inches, which she set earlier this year. It was Wooster's lone All-NCAC laurel of the meet.
Â
At the time of this writing, it is the 29th best throw in Div. III this season.
Â
Overall, the John Carroll University women placed first with a total of 166 points. Wooster was eighth with 13, two points shy of Oberlin for seventh.
Â
On the men's side, Wittenberg University won with 157 points, while the men placed ninth with four points.
