Men's Tennis Rolling to 6-1 Record

Wooster wins three straight to open spring break games

The College of Wooster men's tennis team is off to a stellar start on its spring break trip in Hilton Head, South Carolina, posting a 3-0 record through three games and pushing its season record to 6-1.

Wooster opened their trip with a thrilling 4-3 win over Saint Ambrose University.
 
The Scots opened by taking the doubles point, winning the No. 1 and No. 3 flights. Max Stratford and Anthony VanOyen won 6-4 in the top slot, while Andrew Wissman and Walker Wood needed the tiebreak to take the third flight, 7-6 (3).
 
Wooster took the top three flights in singles play to secure the win. None of them came easy as VanOyen claimed Wooster's lone double-point earner at the No. 1 flight with a 6-1, 7-5 win.
 
Ian Royse needed a second set tiebreaker to take the No. 2 flight, 6-4, 7-6 (5), while Enzo Lopes won a 10-point third set in the No. 3 flight, 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (6).

The men's tennis team had its Monday match versus Asbury rained out but came back on Tuesday to win all matches against Stevenson University for a 7-0 victory.
 
Wisman and Wood combined to lose just one game between their three matches. The duo won 6-0 in the No. 3 doubles flight before Wissman won 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 5 flight, and Wood won 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 6 flight.
 
VanOyen and Lopes took a 6-3 win in the No. 1 doubles flight, while Royse and Dickerson won 6-2 in the No. 2 flight to wrap doubles play.
 
In singles play, VanOyen took a 6-1, 6-3 win in the No. 1 flight, and Lopes won 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 3 flight.
 
Royse and Dickerson each need a 10-point third set to determine their match, but both came out on top. Royse won in the No. 2 flight, 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (8), and Dickerson won his No. 4 flight match 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (6).

Wooster took its second straight 7-0 victory after defeating Schreiner University on Wednesday.
 
The Scots took two of the three doubles flights. VanOyen and Lopes won 6-2 in the No. 1 flight, and Wissman and Wood won 6-4 in the No. 3 flight. 
 
In singles play, VanOyen cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win, as did Royse in the No. 2 flight, 6-0, 6-0 and Dickerson in the No. 4 flight, 6-0, 6-1.
 
Lopes won 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 3 flight, and Wissman won 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 5 flight. Finally, Wood took a 6-1, 0-6, 1-0 (4) win to seal the night.
 
The Scots continue their Florida trip with scheduled matches on Thursday and Friday.
