Rob Mays III threw his way to North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week honors after his performance at the All-Ohio Outdoor Championships this past weekend.
At the championships, the senior Mays took down the school's hammer throw record for the second straight meet with a mark of 170 feet, 11 inches and besting his own toss by over 1.5 feet.
The finish was good for runner-up in the event and All-Ohio honors.
Mays also barely missed out on a second All-Ohio honor in the discus throw. The senior had a career-best mark of 142 feet, 11 inches, for a fourth-place finish. That mark vaulted Mays into the program top-10 list for discus throw, landing at eighth.Â
This was Mays's first Athlete of the Week nod. The squad heads to Kenyon College next for the Duane Gomez Invitational on Saturday.
