The College of Wooster men's tennis team fell to 14th-ranked Kenyon College, 7-0, in a home North Coast Athletic Conference match on Thursday.
Wooster (9-3, 2-2 NCAC) aimed to give Kenyon (16-1, 4-0 NCAC) just its second loss of the season but could not get much traction on Thursday.
In doubles play, the Scots dropped the point after consecutive 6-1 losses in the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles flights. In the No. 2 match,
Bennett Dickerson and
Ian Royse gave Kenyon's
Paulo Pocasangre and
Jay Dixit a run but ultimately fell 6-4 in one of the best matches of the day.
The Scots fell in straight sets when play went to singles. NCAC Athlete of the Week
Anthony VanOyen went down 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 1 flight, while Royse fell in a 6-1, 6-1 outcome.
Enzo Lopes lost 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 3 flight, and Dickerson fell 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4. At No. 5,
Andrew Wissman found a small spark in the second set in a 6-0, 6-3 defeat, while
Walker Wood took a 6-0, 6-0 defeat in the No. 6 flight.
Wooster returns to action versus Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday.
