GAMBIER -- The College of Wooster men's and women's track and field teams kicked off the North Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, hosted by Kenyon College.

Both squads got on the scoring board thanks to placements in field events, while one the men's team had one individual finish top eight in their prelim race to advance to the finals on Saturday.

SeniorÂ
Rob Mays IIIÂ scored for the men in the discus, placing sixth with a throw of 137 feet, four inches. Meanwhile, sophomoreÂ
Francis Nwokonko gave the men two additional points with a seventh place showing in the long jump, reaching 21 feet, 6.25 inches.Â

Nwokonko also qualified for the 110 hurdles final after finishing in the top two of his heat with a time of 15.25 seconds.Â

Elizabeth Theobald gave the women its three points of the day, placing sixth in the javelin with a throw of 110 feet, two inches.Â

Kylie Parsons placed 10th in the discus (96 feet, 8 inches).Â
Ellie Fox finished 12th in the long jump (16 feet, .25 inches) and was 12th in the 400 hurdles prelims (1:12.29).

Amy Gabrovsek finished 13th in the 400 dash prelims (1:01.45).

DT Franklin came in at 14th (126 feet) in the discus, while Mays also placed 16th in the javelin (129 feet, 4 inches).

Basil Keck placed 13th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:25.59), and first-yearÂ
Max Kollhoff finished 14th in the 800 meters (1:58.05)
In the 100 dash prelims,Â
Dasebre Ofosu-Manu (11.23) andÂ
Franklin Adu-Baah (11.24) finished in 16th and 17th, respectively.

The men's and women's 10,000-meter runs (10k) started the day with both of Wooster's runners -Â

Lauren Acker (40:40.25) – finishing in 16th in their respective events.

Saturday's events start back up at 10 a.m. for field events, while the first running event starts at 2:30 p.m.
