GAMBIER - Senior
Rob Mays III became the hammer throw champion to lead The College of Wooster outdoor track and field teams on the second day of action at the North Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, hosted by Kenyon College.
Mays went wire-to-wire with his individual title, putting up a school-record 171 feet on his first attempt as the mark to beat. That toss ultimately prevailed through for his first career All-NCAC honor and also marks the third time this season that Mays took down the school record.
Senior
Evie Sanford was Wooster's other All-NCAC performer as she continued to show off in her signature event, the shot put.
Her season best of 42 feet, 6 inches came on her third attempt and was the leading mark until the sixth attempt when it was overtaken by only .25 inches. Sanford eventually finished as the runner-up for her sixth career All-NCAC accolade and put up a mark that landed just inside the NCAA DIII top-50 at the time of the meet.
Sanford almost collected a second all-conference honor in hammer throw, going toe-to-toe with the third-place athlete all afternoon, but ultimately finished in fourth place with a mark of 144 feet, 5 inches.
Mays also recorded a second scoring finish of his own at sixth place in the shot put. Despite not competing in the event in over a month, the senior launched an outdoor season-best toss of 45 feet, 9.75 inches.
Sophomore

Nwokonko also put up an impressive career-best time of 15.25 in the 110-meter hurdle finals, finishing seventh overall. That time launched Nwokonko into the program top-10 list in the event, vaulting over the four-way tie for ninth place to own that spot alone.
