NEW CONCORD – The College of Wooster women's soccer team surged to an 8-0 victory over Muskingum University on Saturday, falling one shy of tying the program's school record for goals scored.
 
Junior Annie Henegar matched her season total and secured her first multi-goal game of the season to lead the Scots. She set the tone early with a goal in the fifth minute before making it a 2-0 game less than 10 minutes later thanks to an assist from junior Josie Bencic.
 
Wooster (5-3-1) held that lead into halftime before pouring on six goals in the second half. The Scots led 4-0 in the early goings of the second half after junior Emma Fischer scored her second goal of the year in the 59th minute, while Bencic got into the scoring column herself in the 64th minute.
 
The Scots then had a pair of quick goals in the 71st and 72nd minute as Julia Struck and Zoey Martin each found the back of the net for the first time this season. Martin then followed with another goal in the 79th minute, giving the sophomore her first multi-goal game of her career.
 
Bencic, Mady Cline and Megan Barrie provided assists on those three goals. Cline then wrapped up scoring with her first collegiate goal in the 81st minute.
 
The Scots outshot Muskingum (1-5-1) 25-8. Lucy Carlin made six saves in the start, while first-year Ashleigh Walburn recorded her first save in her first minutes of the season.
 
Next, the Scots wrap up its non-conference schedule with a trip to Ohio Northern University on Wednesday.
