Jacob Russell joined The College of Wooster football staff in 2026 as an assistant coach. Russell works closely with the defensive backs.

Prior to Wooster, Russell spent two seasons as an assistant at Cloverleaf High School. He started as a tight ends and linebackers coach and later led Cloverleaf’s quarterback to all-conference honors as the quarterbacks coach and junior varsity offensive coordinator. Russell has extensive camp experience with the Cleveland Browns youth camps and camps at Oberlin College and Elyria Catholic High School.

Russell played at Oberlin and logged over 100 tackles and nearly 20 tackles for loss during his career. He was a two-time team captain and a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Russell graduated from Oberlin with a degree in law and society.
