Wooster Slips to .500 After 1-0 Loss at Kenyon

A long blast by a Kenyon College player found its mark early in the second half for the only score, as The College of Wooster dropped its second 1-0 decision in a row to a North Coast Athletic Conference foe on Tuesday in Gambier, Ohio.

Wooster (4-4-1, 0-2-0 NCAC) was at a slight disadvantage from the outset, as the game had been slated to take place in Wooster, but was moved to Kenyon (4-6-1, 1-2-0 NCAC) due to a very rainy fall making the conditions at Carl Dale Field unplayable.

The two teams battled to a scoreless tie through 45 minutes, but just 64 seconds into the second half the Lords' Keith Dangarembwa fired a shot from about 30 yards out that nestled into the back of the net. That stood up as the lone score, despite four shots from the Fighting Scots during the half, the best chance possibly coming from George Skelly, who forced a save by Kenyon's 'keeper shortly after the goal.

For the Scots, Taylor Takacs and the defense kept them within striking distance throughout, with the senior goalie making five saves.

Next, Wooster will be at Denison University (6-2-2, 2-1-0 NCAC) Saturday at 4 p.m.
