The College of Wooster scored the game's first and last goals, but unfortunately for the Fighting Scots, Bethany College tallied four in between for a 4-2 decision in non-conference men's soccer action Saturday in Bethany, W. Va.
Wooster (2-1) set the tone for what would be a relatively high-scoring game with a goal during the 10th minute, courtesy of Matt Naticchia off a Brandon Patera assist. It marked the first career goal for Naticchia, a sophomore.
Bethany (1-3) notched the equalizer about four minutes later and would eventually take a 2-1 halftime lead by scoring off a corner kick in the 34th minute.
Following a series of yellow cards early in the second half, the Bison made it 3-1 on a header and they gained a three-goal cushion during the 79th minute.
A mere 22 seconds after Bethany's fourth goal, Noah Wagemann beat the 'keeper for his third goal on the young season, but that's where the Scots' comeback bid ended as they took their first loss in 2011.
Taylor Takacs was credited with six saves in the setback.
Wooster will make its home debut on Tuesday against Malone University (2-2).
