The College of Wooster men's soccer team kicked off its 2011 season with a victory, blasting in three goals as part of a 3-2 decision over Point Park University in a neutral-site match played Saturday during 90-degree heat at Marietta, Ohio.
Two of the Fighting Scots' goals came courtesy of Noah Wagemann, including the first which he headed in after receiving a well-placed free kick from Jonathon Fox.
After Point Park evened the score, Wagemann, a sophomore who tallied one goal and two assists all of last year, gave Wooster the lead again, this time assisted by Luke Koniarczyk.
Wagemann was part of the team's third goal as well, as he passed the ball over to Brandon Patera, who found the back of the net for a comfortable 3-1 lead. Comfortable considering that the Pioneers were playing a man-down for the majority of the game. During the first half, the Scots' Zach Jergan was fouled on a breakaway, thus leading to a red card.
Wooster will be right back in action Sunday versus Transylvania University (1-0) at Marietta.
