Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Scots Take Sixth Non-Conference Win, a First Since 2010

The College of Wooster men's soccer team captured its sixth non-conference game on Tuesday with a win against Bluffton University 4-1.

It is the most non-conference wins Wooster has had since 2010 when they went 6-1-1 in non-conference play. Wooster controlled the pace throughout with just one blemish, which Bluffton took advantage of in the 13th minute.

After junior Alex Pollitt scored his first goal of the year off an assist from classmate Luca Napora, Bluffton's Dalton Taynor intercepted a pass on the Scots' defensive end and scored on a strike to tie the game at one.

However, Wooster was able to recapture the lead before halftime. This time Pollitt assisted off a corner kick, and junior Jack Whitehouse scored on a header in the 35th minute.

In the second half, Pollitt again created an offensive opportunity as a shot he took was saved but not cradled in by the Bluffton goalkeeper. That allowed senior Max Hill to come in for the rebound and goal in the 53rd minute.

About seven minutes later it was déjà vu for Hill as he once again scored off a rebound. This time Wheelhouse put forth a ball the goalie couldn't handle, and Hill picked up the leftovers.

Hill now ties for the team lead in goals with four. Pollitt's goal and two assists were his firsts of the season, as was Whitehouse's goal.

Sophomore Jason Prather collected the win in net. He made one save in 45 minutes before relinquishing the second half role to senior Hamilton Schattgen, who made one save.

Bluffton (3-2) played with backup keeper Steven Liptak, who made five saves.

Wooster outshot the Beavers 30-6. They are now 7-0 all-time against Bluffton.

Wooster will take its 6-2 non-conference record into its first North Coast Athletic Conference game on Saturday versus Wabash College.
