Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Scots Erase Early Deficit, Defeat Guilford

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The College of Wooster men's soccer team scored two unanswered goals on Saturday to erase a small deficit and defeat Guilford College, 2-1.

The game winner was struck by sophomore Aris Christodoulou who took the ball from midfield and went the distance, juking defenders as he reached the box and connected on a strike with his left foot in the 69th minute. It is Christodoulou's first goal of the season and fourth of his career.

In the first half, Guilford (2-3) opened scoring in the 22nd minute as Riley Copeland took an up-field pass from Lucas Wheeler and found an opening to score in the middle of the box.

Wooster then scored on a similar set up just before the half ended as Robert Hillhouse found Connor Shea in the box to hit the equalizer in the 42nd minute.

For the first-year Shea, it was his first collegiate goal. Hillhouse records his second career assist and his first of the new season.

Shots came at a premium in Greensboro as Wooster outshot Guilford 7-5. Both teams combined for just five corner kicks.

Wooster improves to 4-2 and have their first winning streak of the year. They will quickly turn around to play Pfeiffer University on Sunday.
