Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Keenan Notches First Win at Wooster

Head coach Shaun Keenan collected his first victory at The College of Wooster as his men's team defeated Otterbein University 4-3 on Wednesday.

Wooster had to do it the hard way after losing the doubles point. In the new system in Division III, each match no longer counts separately. Now, whichever team wins at least two of the matches will be awarded the point.

Wooster's number two team of Namit Misra and Arnav Yadav won 6-3. However, the No. 1 team of Anthony VanOyen and Bennett Dickerson fell 6-1, and the No. 3 team of Max Stratford and Ian Royse lost 6-3.

In singles play, VanOyen led the pack with a tense win in the No. 1 spot, 6-2, 6-1. Royce and Dickerson had similar outcomes in the No. 3 and No. 4 positions, respectively. Royse won 6-3, 6-4, and Dickerson won 6-4, 6-3.

After Stratford took a 6-3, 6-0 loss in the No. 6 spot, the final two matches came down to Yadav at No. 2 and Misra at No. 3.

Both went three sets, while Misra lost 7-5, 2-6, 6-2, Yadav gave Wooster its winning point with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win.

This weekend the Scots will travel to the ITA Regional Championships in St. Louis, Mo.
