Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Scots Breakthrough Blue Streak Defense, Take 2-0 Win

Wooster’s first 10 win season since 2006

An evenly played match for almost 80 minutes saw The College of Wooster men's soccer team come through with two goals in the final 10:38 to defeat John Carroll University, 2-0, on Wednesday.

The main trip up for John Carroll (5-7-2, 1-2-0) was exactly that, fouling first-year Aiden Faber in the box with just over 10 minutes remaining in the game. That put senior Elliot Miller in position for the penalty kick, which he successfully connected on for his team-leading seventh goal of the season.

Not being satisfied, Wooster put the game away for good with 32 seconds remaining. Sophomore Connor Shea got ahead on a breakaway, going fom the defensive midfield all the way to the other side of the field, scoring on goalkeeper Owen Szucs.

Shea had a pair of decent looks before that seeing a shot go wide and another saved before connecting on his fourth goal of the year.

Decent looks on goal were hard to find as Wooster outshot John Carroll 15-13 but only 5-2 on shots on goal. Sophomore keeper Eddie Glucksman collected a pair of saves.

The win gives Wooster 10 on the season, the first time they've hit that mark since 2006. They move to 10-0-4 overall and 2-0-2 with eight points in the North Coast Athletic Conference, which is currently good for second.

Elsewhere in the conference on Wednesday, DePauw University gave No. 3 Denison University its first loss of the season in a 1-0 contest. DePauw sits atop the standings with 10 points, while Denison slides to third with seven points.

Wooster gets the weekend off from games. They will be in action next Wednesday with a trip to Oberlin College.
