The College of Wooster women's soccer team collected its first point in North Coast Athletic Conference play on Saturday after a scoreless draw with Denison University at Carl Dale Field.
Â
Neither team could ask for much more, as scoring chances were few and far between. Denison outshot Wooster 17-9, while holding the advantage on shots on goal, 5-4.
Â
Junior goalkeeperÂ
Lucy Carlin made five saves, including three in the first half.
Â
Denison outshot Wooster 8-4 and had five corner kick opportunities in the first half. The second half told a similar story with a 9-5 shot distribution, but Wooster did a better job preventing the ball in deep as Denison (6-3-4, 1-0-2 NCAC) took two corners the rest of the way.
Â
One of Wooster's best opportunities came with their lone corner kick in the 71st minute. They also had crosses late from J
osie Bencic andÂ
Julia Struck but neither amounted to a score.
Â
Always a tight contest between the two teams, this is the eighth tie between the two clubs in 45 meetings.Â
Mia Stoller scored Wooster's only goal in last year's 1-0 win over the Big Red.
Â
Wooster now sits at 8-3-2 overall and 0-2-1 in conference play.
Â
Up next, Wooster will host Wittenberg University on Wednesday.
