The College of Wooster men's soccer team traveled to DePauw University on Saturday and tied with the host Tigers, 1-1, in both teams' North Coast Athletic Conference opener.
Â
It was an even matchup throughout with a one-shot differential, which was an 11-10 Wooster edge. Both teams also committed 11 fouls each.
Â
DePauw'sÂ
Matthew Fogo made a heads up play in the 15th minute to put the Tigers ahead 1-0 early. A straight interception on their offensive side of the field led to a one-on-one with sophomore keeperÂ
Eddie Glucksman. Glucksman was put out of position and Fogo scored with an open net.
Â
Glucksman made three saves in net for the day.
Â
About 15 minutes later in the first half, Wooster got a break as juniorÂ
Aris Christodoulou was awarded a penalty kick after being tripped in the box in the 32nd minute. He brushed off his fall and took the PK, scoring into the bottom left of the net.
Â
It was his fourth goal of the season.
Â
Wooster stays unbeaten at 8-0-3 overall and now 0-0-1 in NCAC play. DePauw moves to 5-2-3 overall and 0-0-1 in the NCAC.
Â
Next, Wooster will face its biggest challenge of the season when they travel to Denison University to play the No. 1 ranked Big Red. Denison (9-0-1, 1-0) is coming off a 2-1 win over Kenyon College in their last outing.
