Rumph’s 2015 Gold Medal Team To Be Inducted in Softball Canada Hall of Fame

Hall of Fame ceremony takes place Nov. 8

College of Wooster softball coach Victoria Rumph, a member of the Women's Pan American Games Gold Medal Team for Canada in 2015, will have her squad inducted into the Softball Canada Hall of Fame this November.

Rumph played for Softball Canada's Women's National Team for nearly a decade, which included a silver medal in the 2013 Pan American games. She also played in the World Cup of Softball and competed for the Canadian Open Fastpitch Championship.

"It's an incredible honor to be able to share this Softball Canada Hall of Fame Induction with this special team on and off the field," Rumph said. "Our team culture was one of the greatest of all the teams that I've been a part of, and it was evident through play on the field."

Six teams qualified to compete at the games hosted by Canada in 2015. Canada and the United States had quite the story after Softball Canada placed second behind the United States after the preliminary round.

The two teams met in the semifinals of the medal round with the United States advancing to the goal medal game after a 5-2 win.

However, Canada would defeat Puerto Rico, 7-4, to earn a rematch with the United States in the gold medal game and would take a thrilling 4-2 win in eight innings to win in front of their home crowd.

"The gold medal game on home soil, in front of a roaring home crowd was the most amazing experience I've had representing Canada," Rumph added. "I'll never forget the final strikeout, the celebration with the team, and belting out our national anthem at the medal ceremony."

In 2023, Rumph also was inducted into the Youngstown State Hall of Fame after a collegiate career where she left as the program's all-time leader in RBI. She was also the first player in program history to hit above a .300 batting average with more than 20 home runs and 100 RBI.

The Hall of Fame ceremony will take place in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada on Nov. 8.
