The College of Wooster swimming and diving program swept NCAA Div. II Malone University in the opening dual meet of the 2025-2026 season, hosted Timken Natatorium. The women defeated Malone by a score of 140-67 while the men won 177-53.

A pair of first-years impressed in their first collegiate meet, amassing three individual event victories between them. Sandifer won the 500 freestyle in 5:32.82 while first-year
Evan Hasenkampf secured wins in the 1,000 freestyle and the 200 butterfly in 10:25.59 and 2:04.50, respectively. Senior
Emma Humbert had a standout performance in the 200 freestyle, turning in a rare early-season collegiate-best of 2:02.15 to win.

Along with Humbert, the senior class racked up eight event victories, led by
Will Laubacher. Laubacher matched Hasenkampf with a pair of wins in the 50 freestyle in 22.74 and the 500 freestyle in 5:05.10. Glover won the 200 freestyle in 1:51.19, Sullivan won the 200 individual medley in 2:04.86 and senior
Will Laymon won the 200 backstroke in 2:04.31. In the diving well, senior

Senior
Keara Wiley took the 50 freestyle in 26.72, but it was the sophomores who really stood out for the Wooster women. Layne complemented her victory in the 400 medley relay with a win in the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:38.66. Classmates
Savannah Cox and
Elizabeth Theobald captured the 200 individual medley and the 200 butterfly in 2:25.19 and 2:22.11, respectively.

Three juniors added three more victories for the Scot men. Junior
Chris Caldwell made it a diving sweep by winning the 3-meter dive with 186.95 points. Junior
Ethan Neuner won the 100 freestyle in a time of 51.44, while junior
Ryan Stokes touched the wall first in the 200 breaststroke in 2:22.43.

The meet ended the way it started with a Wooster relay sweep, this time in the 400 freestyle relay. Lucas, Sandifer, Humbert, and Wiley went 3:55.59 to best their relay competition while Laymon, Neuner, Sullivan, and Glover put together a 3:18.43 performance en route to their victory.

Wooster will hit the road for the first time in the 2025-2026 season when it travels to take on Heidelberg University on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 11:00 a.m. inside the Tiffin YMCA.
