The College of Wooster women's basketball team improved to 3-0 for the first time in 10 years after defeating Mount Aloysius College, 86-69, in their opening game of the Nan Nichols Classic on Friday.
Four Scots scored into double figures, led by 16 points from sophomoreÂ
Mackenzie Riccitelli who shot a blistering 80 percent (8-10) from the floor.

Ella Dean hit the mark from range, going 4-of-8 and finishing with 14 points.
JuniorÂ
Ace Sturdivant put together another nice performance, finishing with 12 points, four rebounds, four assists and six steals.
Finally, seniorÂ
Ella Biondi finished with 10 points on 4-of-4 shooting and five rebounds. Defensively, Biondi finished with seven blocks as well, one shy of her own record, which she set as a a first-year.
The Mounties were led by a 16-point, 16-rebound performance fromÂ
Molly Kosmack. They also received 16 points fromÂ
Annalyn Isaacs and 14 points fromÂ
Brionna Brown.
In the first ever meeting between the two programs, Dean got Wooster off to a fast start, hitting the corner 3-pointer off the assist from Sturdivant for the first points of the game.
Wooster started to slowly build its lead, but Mount Aloysius put forth its best scoring run of the game of eight points to take a 17-16 lead. However, Wooster recollected itself by the end of the first quarter with their own 7-0 run behind five points from Dean to lead 25-20 after one.
From there, Wooster stayed in control, never relinquishing the lead for the rest of the game. Wooster used an 11-point run to pull ahead even further and distributed scoring around amongst six players including five points each from sophomoreÂ
Emily Webb and first-yearÂ
Graysen Redpath.
Redpath finished with seven points, which included a pair of putbacks. Wooster led 48-34 at halftime.
Wooster held its biggest lead of 23 in the third quarter, allowing them to start depleting their bench. Of note,Â
Katelyn Barnes scored her first points of the season.
The Scots shot an impressive 55 percent from the floor (36-66). They also went 29 percent (8-28) from range and shot 75 percent (6-8) from the foul line.
Mount Aloysius (0-1) shot 37 percent (22-59) from the court, 33 percent (7-21) from 3-point range and 75 percent (18-24) from the charity stripe.
Wooster won the rebounding battle 38-33 and outcsored the Mounties in the paint, 44-26, in points off turnovers, 27-16, second chance points, 18-14, fast break points, 12-4, and in bench points, 28-18.
Wooster closes out the Nan Nichols Classic versus Baldwin Wallace University on Saturday with a 4 p.m. tip. Mount Aloysius and Grove City College play in the 2 p.m. opener.
