Scots Sweep Titans

Glover, Theobald lead Scots at Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa – The College of Wooster swimming and diving team swept Westminster College on Saturday with the men winning 191-54 and the women 194-67.
 
The men and women each had a four-event winner in Callum Glover and Elizabeth Theobald
 
Leading off for the men, the 400 medley relay team of Hayden PriceCaleb SunWill Laymon and Glover won in a time of 3:42.45.
 
It was the start of the four-win day for Glover, who also took the 50 free in 22.09 and the 100 fly in 53.99. He was also a part of the winning 400 free relay team which featured Glover, Laymon, Sun and Will Laubacher who won with a time of 3:23.43.
 
Price, last week's North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week, came on top in the 200 breast in a time of 2:27.22. He also took the 100 IM in 57.37.
 
Three Scots competed in the 100 free, but it was Laubacher who came out in first at 10:40.51. Laubacher also won the 500 free in 5:14.10.
 
Philipp Drappatz came out on top in the 200 free (1:51.54) with Evan Hasenkampf (1:54.97) and Sun following behind (1:57.33). Drappatz also took the 100 free in 51.65, ahead of Ethan Neuner (52.26).
 
Matt Kaley won the 200 fly in 2:06.80. Ryan Stokes (1:05.19) edged out teammate Ethan Towle(1:05.30) in the 100 back.
 
Finally, Laymon was about a half-second behind from first in both the100 back (55.02) and the 200 back (2:03.94).
 
On the women's side, the Scots had several close swims but started by winning the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:19.10 behind Reese LucasMaggie Layne, Theobald and Keara Wiley.
 
It was the start of a narrow 3-win day for Wiley. She finished the 50 free in first in 26.30, just ahead of teammate Elena Sandifer (26.66) and took the 100 free (58.53) ahead of Sylvia Krieg (59.07).
 
Yet, Theobald would top that with three individual wins in the 100 breast in 1:12.97, the 100 fly in 1:02.99 and the 100 IM in 1:05.99.
 
Sandifer got in the winning column later, taking the 500 free in 5:27.67, while Layne swam a 2:39.44 to win the 200 breast.
 
Wooster had the top three finishers in the 1000 free with Layne winning in 11:36.47. Bailey Nickols (12:08.86) and Hadley Reckard (12:18.24) followed in second and third, respectively.
 
Leah Dean won the 100 back in 1:04.12. Emma Humbert swam a 2:24.29 to win the 200 fly and took the 200 back in 2:17.48.
 
Humbert finished with a 3-win day as well after the 400 free relay where herself, Lucas, Krieg and Sandifer won in 3:52.51.
 
Next, the Scots host their Wooster Invitational starting Dec. 4.
