Julia Struck qualified for the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Team for women's soccer, which was announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.
Crompton tied for third on the team with four goals and ranked fourth for the Fighting Scots with nine points this fall. The junior midfielder opened the year with a goal against Alma College and had three goals through four contests, thanks to scores against Bluffton University and Heidelberg University. Crompton scored and passed out an assist in Wooster's win over Muskingum University for her final score of the year.
The neuroscience major is a two-time CSC Academic All-District® selection. She is a multi-time qualifier for the College's Athletic Director's Honor Roll. She worked soccer camps at Saint Ignatius High School and volunteers with the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.
Kiker played and started 13 games this fall. The midfielder played in eight of the program's 11 shutouts this fall. She played the entire contest in eight of her 13 appearances and had two shots in Wooster's win over Bluffton.
Kiker is an English and education major and will be student teaching at Wooster High School during the spring semester. She is currently a teaching assistant for an education course at the College. This summer, she taught three units on ancient civilizations as part of the Aspire Program at Hathaway Brown School. Kiker held multiple prior field placements within the Wooster City School District and was a tutor for middle school students at Edgewood Middle School. The multi-time qualifier for the Athletic Director's Honor Roll is exploring ethical ways to teach Indigenous, Black, and Latinx perspectives through decolonial pedagogy for Independent Study and is currently interviewing for middle school and high school English language arts teaching positions.
Maley started all 17 contests at defender this fall. The four-year starter earned third-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors as a first-year. She helped the Scots post 11 shutouts this fall and passed out assists at Heidelberg and John Carroll University.
The two-time Academic All-District® qualifier is part of the Goodwill Industries service house volunteer program on campus. Back home, the senior has experience as a nanny and in the retail sector at SandJamm in Wildwood, New Jersey. Maley was an art therapist intern at Jefferson Outpatient Center in 2022 and collaborated with music therapists, speech therapists, physical therapists, and occupational therapists. As a psychology and studio art double major, Maley is working on a pair of Independent Study projects. For psychology, she is examining whether using tri-model multisensory integration to teach words can enhance children's ability to learn. She is conducting a study with area preschool-aged children where she teaches nonsense words through storybook reading and multisensory activities and then assessing their memory for the words. For art studio, Maley created four short stories for children, with each addressing a moral dilemma a child might face. She is then going to illustrate the stories using watercolors. The senior is a multi-time qualifier for the College's Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
Martin played in all 17 contests with six starts this fall. She scored two goals and passed out an assist. Martin scored the lone goal in Wooster's win over Franciscan University of Steubenville and netted her second goal of the fall at NCAC champion John Carroll. Martin's assist came in the 3-0 rout of Earlham College on the opening weekend of the season.
Martin is an education and mathematics major and is part of the College's Student Leadership Institute. The multi-time qualifier for the Athletic Director's Honor Roll spent this summer as a teaching assistant in the Arrupe Summer Program, a summer camp for students at urban community schools in Cleveland. She has volunteer experience with the after school program for Wooster Boys and Girls Club, assisting middle school students with homework and after school activities.
Struck was one of Wooster's top playmakers, finishing the year with top-three team rankings in goals (4), assists (2), and points (10). The senior played in all 17 contests and made 13 starts on the year. Struck's senior year started strong, with goals in two of the Scots' first three contests. She scored and passed out an assist against Kalamazoo College, then scored her final goal of the year against Muskingum.
The two-time Academic All-District® qualifier is a four-time member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll. The education major has multiple field placements throughout area schools at the elementary and nursery school level. She was part of the College's
Student Leadership Institute and is actively involved with the Alpha Gamma Phi sorority, holding multiple officer positions such as recruitment chair, webmaster, and secretary. Struck is a student assistant for the education department, a senior intern and tour guide for admissions, and is a lead tutor at Edgewood Middle School. She has also worked as a literacy tutor.
CSC Academic All-District® honors go to players who are at least a sophomore in academic standing, played in 90 percent of contests or started in 66 percent of contests, and have at least a 3.50 GPA.
