After last year's The College of Wooster women's swimming and diving team won the Wooster Invitational for the first time since 2009, the squad made sure not to wait another long stretch, taking the meet for the second consecutive year this weekend.
The women scored 1,628.5 points, holding a narrow lead from Saturday to fend off nine other teams including the University of Mount Union (1,437 points) and Frostburg State University (1307).
Meanwhile, the men also stayed true. They kept their third place standing from the end of Friday and scored 1,464 points to finish in third for the second straight year. Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology scored 1,730 points to win the meet, while Mount Union scored 1,690 to finish second.
The women had several solid finishes on Saturday after holding a 1.5-point lead over Mount Union entering the day.
Sophomore
Elizabeth Theobald was the lone women's winner of the day, taking the 100 IM in 1:01.55. Yet,
Keara Wiley (1:03.98) and
Ainsley Rogers (1:03.99) rounded out the top three for plenty of points.
Theobald also had a third place finish in the 200 fly with a time of 2:13.31.
Senior
Emma Humbert finished just .10 seconds shy from first in the 200 back with a time of 2:10.70. First-year
Aryanna Harton came in sixth (2:16.32).
Junior
Rachel Frank was fourth in the 1650 free (18:26.67) as was
Maggie Layne in the 200 breast (2:33.38). First-year
Elena Sandifer finished seventh in the 100 free (55.13).
To cap off the night, the 400 free relay team of Wiley,
Patricia Chen,
Reese Lucas and Sandifer placed third with a swim of 3:42.53.
For the men,
Hayden Price once again made a splash as he and
Will Laymon swam top 10 program record times in the 200 back prelims only to improve in the finals.
Price finished second in the event with a time of 1:51.75, two spots shy of the program record, while Laymon finished third in 1:54.10, which places him sixth.
First-year
Evan Hasenkampf and junior
Philipp Drappatz finished one, two in the 1650 free and positioned themselves in the record books as well. Hasenkampf finished in 16:36.05, which was good for fifth all-time, while Drappatz improved upon his 2025 time (16:43.07), sitting firmly in eighth.
Senior
Callum Glover placed second in the 100 free with a time of 46.05 seconds.
In the 200 breast, Sullivan placed third with a time of 2:07.88 with
Ryan Stokes came in sixth at 2:10.96.
Senior
Matt Kaley swam a 1:58.41 in the 200 fly for fourth, while Drappatz followed in fifth at 2:00.78. In the 100 IM, sophomore
Ethan Towle finished sixth (56.82).
Finally, the men capped off the event on a high note, winning the 400 free relay race in a time of 3:12.16 behind the team of
Will Laubacher, Laymon, Price and Sullivan.
Next, the Scots will compete in the CSCAA Open Water Nationals in Sarasota, Fla. on Saturday. It will be their last meet of the year until they travel to Hiram College on Jan. 10.
