The College of Wooster women's soccer team looked in midseason form in their season opener on Saturday, defeating Alma College, 3-0.
Wooster dominated throughout, keeping possession as indicated by its 9-0 corner kick advantage and outshooting the Scots 25-7.
The Scots also set the tone early with a goal in the fourth minute from sophomoreÂ
Josie Bencic, in what would be her first of two on the day.Â
SophomoreÂ
Annie Henegar placed a ball beautifully up field right at the feet of Bencic who sprinted down and succeeded on a one-on-one versus the keeper.
In the 19th minute, Bencic would assist juniorÂ
Bella Crompton on her first goal of the year. Crompton took her shot near the top of the box, hitting the corner and just out of reach of the Alma keeper.
Finally, Bencic would add her second goal in the 77th minute, intercepting the ball with a clear look on goal.
JuniorÂ
Lucy Carlin got the start, making one save for the shutout.
Wooster (1-0) returns to action Sunday, hosting Earlham College (0-1) at Carl Dale Field. Earlham fell to Alma in their first game on Friday, 3-0.
