The College of Wooster women's soccer team secured its second consecutive 3-0 win as three different players found the back of the net against Earlham College on Sunday.
Â
All scoring their first goals of the year were seniorsÂ
Julia Struck andÂ
Charlotte Sefcik, as well as first-yearÂ
Zoey Martin.
Struck put Wooster on the board first, capitalizing on a rebounded shot. Sophomore
Caitlin Martin sent the ball in, which was initially saved by the Earlham keeper. However, she could not get a grip on it, allowing Struck to charge in for the score.
Â
About 10 minutes later in the 36th minute, first-yearÂ
Paige Schulz led Sefcik on a well-timed pass, which allowed Sefcik to score after a couple of long strides.
Â
The score remained 2-0 until the final minutes of play when a pair of first-years connected on the final tally.Â
Helen Fraunfelder placed a long pass that found Martin in the box and for the goal.
Â
Wooster controlled the game throughout, outshooting the Quakers 31-1, with 16 of those shots on goal. SeniorÂ
Kameryn Nelson got the start and the win in goal, making one save.
Â
It is Wooster's first 2-0 start to a season since 2018.
Â
The team will stick around Wooster for their next contest when they host Bluffton University on Wednesday. The College will be celebrating AD Honor Roll athletes at halftime, split between the women's game on Wednesday and the men's soccer game on Thursday.
