Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Six Different Scorers Contribute to 6-0 Win

Men's soccer dominates Heidelberg to move to 4-0-1

Goals came fast and furious for The College of Wooster men's soccer team on Wednesday as they defeated Heidelberg University 6-0 to improve to 4-0-1 on the season.

Two headers put Wooster ahead early. The first, came off a corner kick from Elliot Miller, who found Jackson Shoemaker for his first goal of the year in the sixth minute.

Later, Evan Amend had a shot saved in front of the goal, but it was not corralled in, allowing the senior to head the goal in during the 15th minute.

Wooster kept rolling from there. Next, first-year Aiden Faber scored in a similar way, rebounding his own shot and making it a 3-0 game in the 38th minute.

Not too long after that in the 41st minute, Miller scored off a direct assist from Taylor Uszacki for his second of the year. Wooster lead 4-0 heading into halftime.

Wooster scored twice in the 52nd minute, 35 seconds apart. The first came from Griffin Thornton and the next from Connor Shea, who connected on a penalty kick.

Thornton's goal came off a failed clear as his shot bounced off the crossbar and in. It was the first goal of the season for Thornton and second for Shea.

Sophomore Eddie Glucksman collected the win with a clean sheet in goal in the first half. Classmate Stefanos Sotiriadis made a pair of diving saves in the second half in his first action as a Fighting Scot.

Wooster outshot Heidelberg (1-4) 32-9 and held the corner kick advantage 10-3.

The Scots have had Heidelberg's number recently, winning 3-0 last year and 6-0 the year before.

In addition, the Scots' single game goal record was also set at 15 when the teams met back in 1975. Wooster leads the overall series 18-8-2.

The Scots will look to ride the momentum of Wednesday's win and a 4-0-1 record into their next match against Case Western Reserve on Saturday.
