Christodoulou’s Big Night Lifts Scots On Road

Wooster stays unbeaten with 2-1 victory

BEREA – After an early setback, junior Aris Christodoulou scored the equalizer and the game winner Wednesday as The College of Wooster men's soccer team stayed unbeaten with a 2-1 win over Baldwin Wallace University.

The setback came just 45 seconds into the game when a failed clear from Eddie Glucksman immediately came back to haunt the sophomore goalkeeper allowing Baldwin Wallace's Dominic Massaro to get in front of the ball and find Carter Richardson for the score.

However, Wooster's first decent look ended up being the equalizer in the 18th minute. A redirection of Wooster's own from midfield had Connor Shea find Christodoulou for the score.

The 1-1 score stayed at halftime and until 13:43 left to play. Christodoulou connected again, this time off an assist from Taylor Uszacki, getting through the defense for his second career multi-goal game. It was his third goal of the season.

Things got a bit physical late with Wooster being issued a pair of yellow cards, including one that awarded a free kick with 26 seconds left. On the kick, the ball was fired directly toward the net from about 30 yards out, but Glucksman made the save to preserve the win.

It was one of two saves for Glucksman who got the win after playing the full 90 minutes in goal. Wooster outshot the Yellow Jackets 11-9 and held the corner kick advantage 5-3.

Wooster is now 5-0-2, while Baldwin Wallace drops to 3-4-1.

With homecoming this Saturday, Wooster will host the University of Mount Union, who received votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches DIII Poll.
