In a homecoming game that had a little bit of everything, The College of Wooster men's soccer team defeated the University of Mount Union, 3-2, in what was a battle of unbeaten teams entering the day.
Â
On paper, Wooster seemed in control for much of the game. They outshot the Purple Raiders 21-9 and held the corner kick advantage 6-2.
Â
However, it was a Mount Union corner kick that put them on the board to start the game in the 27th minute. Yet, it was by Wooster's own doing as the kick in hit off the head of a Wooster player and into the goal.Â
Â
Wooster was able to tie the game before halftime when
 Connor Piero foundÂ
Evan Amend off a throw in for Amend's third goal of the season in the 44th minute.
Â
Mount Union (5-1-1) tallied the second half's first goal asÂ
Dom Kustura scored on a penalty kick in the 59th minute.
Â
Yet, Wooster (6-0-2) once again had the answer, this time in the 68th minute.Â
Robert Hillhouse foundÂ
Connor Shea for his third goal of the season, knotting the game up at two.
Â
Both teams challenged each other throughout the contest, but Wooster was able to make a run in the 81st minute to hit the game-winning goal. Shea found seniorÂ
Elliot Miller on a cross, who promptly scored from inside the box.
Â
Eddie Glucksman made a save for the win, while his counterpartÂ
Jackson Callender made five in the loss.
Â
This was Wooster's second game against a team receiving votes in the DIII United Soccer Coaches Poll. Earlier, they tied with Case Western Reserve University, 1-1.
At halftime, Bob Nye was honored by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association as a Hall of Fame inductee. Read more about Nye and his induction

Next, Wooster travels to La Roche University on Wednesday.
