The College of Wooster women's soccer team gave its seniors quite the senior day as they concluded their non-conference schedule with a 2-0 win over Muskingum University on Saturday.
Opportunities came early and often for Wooster, who went ahead early in the sixth minute. Senior C
harlotte Sefcik found
Bella Crompton on the cross for the junior's fourth score of the year.
Later in the 22nd minute, it was Crompton with the downfield pass finding senior
Julia Struck for her fourth goal of the year. Wooster took a 2-0 lead into halftime.
In the first half alone, Wooster outshot the Fighting Muskies 25-0. They kept Muskingum (2-7) keeper
Kyleigh Dahlgren busy, while Wooster's own keeper,
Kameryn Nelson, relaxed. Dahlgren had eight first half saves, while the senior Nelson did not need to record one.
Wooster was able to slow down the pace and empty the bench in a scoreless second half. Wooster still outshot Muskingum 12-4 in the half, but three of Muskingum's shots came in the final minute following a corner kick.
Overall, Wooster outshot the Muskies 37-4 in the game and held the corner kick advantage 11-1.
Nelson did not need to record a save in the second half either for the scoreless sheet. Muskingum's
Lucie Cotner entered at goal for the final 45 minutes and made five saves.
Wooster moves to 8-1-1 as they now focus on North Coast Athletic Conference play next week. They travel to Kenyon College on Saturday.
